Telstra Renews IT Operations and Services Agreement With IBM Until 2014

The five-year contract, which is an extension of an existing services agreement, is worth a total of AU$745million. Stream Computing Provides Real-Time Analysis For New Insight into Effects on Earth

BERLIN - 03 Jun 2009: IBM (NYSE:IBM) and Uppsala University and the Swedish Institute of Space Physics announced today a major new Stream Computing project to analyze massive volumes of information in real time to better understand “space weather”. By using IBM InfoSphere Streams to analyze data from sensors that track high frequency radio waves, endless amounts of data can be captured and analyzed on the fly.

Over the next year, this project is expected to perform analytics on at least 6 gigabytes per second or 21,600 gigabytes per hour – the equivalent of all the Web pages on the Internet.    » read more »

IBM Board Approves 10 Percent Increase in Quarterly Cash Dividend

Board Authorizes $3.0 Billion for Stock Repurchase

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - 28 Apr 2009: The IBM (NYSE: IBM) board of directors today declared a regular quarterly cash dividend of $0.55 per common share, payable June 10, 2009 to stockholders of record May 8, 2009.

Today’s dividend declaration represents an increase of $0.05, or 10 percent higher than the prior quarterly dividend of $0.50 per common share.

IBM has increased its quarterly dividend by 175 percent since 2006. This is the 14th year in a row that IBM has increased its quarterly cash dividend.

With the payment of the June 10 dividend, IBM will have paid consecutive quarterly dividends every year since 1916.    » read more »

ARMONK, NY - 20 Apr 2009 -- IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced first-quarter 2009 diluted earnings of $1.70 per share compared with diluted earnings of $1.64 per share in the first quarter of 2008, an increase of 4 percent as reported. First-quarter net income was $2.30 billion compared with $2.32 billion in the first quarter of 2008, a decrease of 1 percent. Total revenues for the first quarter of 2009 of $21.7 billion decreased 11 percent (4 percent, adjusting for currency) from the first quarter of 2008.    » read more »
