Former Forest Supervisor Named To Idaho Fish And Game Commission

August 14, 2007 -- (BOISE) – Idaho Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter announced the appointment today of former Clearwater National Forest Supervisor Fred Trevey (TREE’-vee) of Lewiston to the Region 2 position on the Idaho Fish and Game Commission.

Now retired from the U.S. Forest Service and working as a private consultant, Trevey succeeds Alex Irby of Orofino on the seven-member commission. Irby’s term expired June 30.    » read more »

Mississippi Governor Barbour Signs Bill To Study Deer Baiting

April 23, 2007 -- (Jackson, Mississippi) – Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour has signed a bill to authorize the Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks to study the issue of deer baiting, and ultimately determine the outcome of this issue.

The Governor signed the bill on Saturday, and it was returned to the Legislature today with the following statement:

“I have signed House Bill 423 to remove the issue of using bait to hunt deer from the politicians and to give that important decision to the professionals and scientists.”    » read more »

IDVA Announces Annual Hunting And Fishing Licenses For Disabled Veterans Now Permanent

Annual recertification becomes one-time issue

April 19, 2007 -- SPRINGFIELD – In light of a recent letter received by Lake County Vietnam veteran Ray G. Canaday, Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs (IDVA) Director L. Tammy Duckworth today announced that the annual free hunting and fishing licenses for disabled veterans issued by IDVA will now be a one-time, permanent issue. The new policy will save disabled veterans throughout the state the inconvenience of a yearly trip to renew their license, which includes transportation costs and time.    » read more »
