May 02, 2008 -- Chicago, IL - Today, we remember the light that was brought into the world by each of the six million Jews who lost their lives in the Holocaust, as well as the terrible darkness of the Nazi genocide. We also renew our commitment to combat the scourge of anti-Semitism everywhere, and to stand up against extremism and prejudice of any form.

Let us resolve to confront genocide and work to prevent mass atrocities, beginning with greater action to stop the killing in Darfur. And let us stand with the Jewish State of Israel, a strong and resilient democracy that emerged out of the shadow of the Holocaust, but which still has enemies that threaten its destruction.    » read more »

December 13, 2007 -- Washington, DC – Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) and Bill Nelson (D-FL) introduced a Senate resolution today praising the opening of the vast Holocaust archives located at Bad Arolsen, Germany.

“These archives may yield long-buried answers for countless families of Holocaust survivors and victims. These are stories we must tell and retell if we are to keep our solemn commitment to never forget,” Senator Clinton said. “Helping survivors and families gain immediate access to these archives must be our priority now.”    » read more »

12 September 2007 -- Spain's Prince of Asturias Foundation has announced that this year's award for promoting peace and human rights will go to Israel's Yad Vashem holocaust museum and memorial.

The foundation cited Yad Vashem's determination to transmit to future generations the need for preserving human rights and respect for life, following the horrors of Nazism. It said the Jerusalem museum has become the most important repository of information, and an education center on one of the largest genocides in the history of mankind.    » read more »

STUTTGART ARMY AIRFIELD, Germany — A survivor of seven Nazi labor and concentration camps made good on a promise he made years ago to fellow prisoners when he gave the closing prayer at a Holocaust mass grave here April 15.

Benjamin Gelhorn, 86, said he was the “most happiest man” to give the Kaddish prayer at the placement of gravestones ceremony for 34 Jewish victims at the former World War II forced labor camp known as KZ (concentration camp) Echterdingen.    » read more »
