Arnold Schwarzenegger celebrated the full reopening of the MacArthur Maze today to commuters, only 26 days after a gasoline tanker carrying 8,600 gallons of fuel overturned and caught fire, closing both the southbound 880 and eastbound 580 connector.    » read more »

05/21/2007 -- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced that the repairs to the MacArthur Maze will be completed Thursday night and the freeway will reopen for the Friday morning commute.

“Thanks to hard, around-the-clock work of Caltrans and C.C. Myers, our local partners and businesses, Bay Area motorists can once again travel through this busy interchange,” said Gov. Schwarzenegger. “Just in time for the holiday weekend, this roadway will be open in 26 days from when the accident occurred.”    » read more »

Six-year improvement program public hearings announced

May 14, 2007 -- RICHMOND – Virginia Governor Timothy M. Kaine announced today that the Commonwealth Transportation Board has released a draft version of a six-year transportation program reflecting an additional $500 million a year in new revenues and bonds. In addition, the Governor announced that the Board will conduct five statewide public hearings between May 16th and May 31st in Richmond, Salem, Fairfax, Chesapeake and New Market.    » read more »

Announces $2 Million in First Round of Emergency Relief

May 4, 2007 -- EMERYVILLE – U.S. Secretary of Transportation Mary E. Peters today announced an initial $2 million in federal emergency relief will be available to California to repair the damaged MacArthur Maze overpass. The Secretary joined Senator Boxer and Representatives Tauscher, Lee and Oberstar on a tour of the site to see the repairs that will be required.    » read more »

05/03/2007 -- In step with the California Governor's directive to fast-track the repairs to the Interstate 580 connector, Caltrans today advertised bids for the repairs of the collapsed freeway connector. Work is scheduled to begin early next week on this important transportation link.

April 19, 2007 -- SPRINGFIELD – Acting Illinois Department of Transportation Secretary Milt Sees today unveiled Governor Rod R. Blagojevich’s $10.9 billion multiyear Highway Improvement Program (MYP) for the Fiscal Years 2008 through 2013. The Multiyear Plan (MYP) focuses on maintenance of the current road system.
