DoD Identifies Army Casualty: Chief Warrant Officer Scott A.M. Oswell, 33, of Washington
July 05, 2007 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Chief Warrant Officer Scott A.M. Oswell, 33, of Washington, died July 4 in Mosul, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his helicopter struck a power line.
He was assigned to the 4th Squadron, 6th U.S. Air Cavalry, Fort Lewis, Wash.

Five U.S. Soldiers Killed in Chinook Helicopter Crash
WASHINGTON, May 31, 2007 – Five U.S. soldiers were among those killed when a Chinook helicopter flying a NATO International Security Assistance Force mission went down in Helmand province near Kajaki last night, military officials reported.
The crash killed all seven people on board. The five U.S. soldiers were assigned to Combined Joint Task Force 82, and were the crewmembers of the helicopter.

NATO: Seven Soldiers Killed in Helicopter Crash in Afghanistan
30 May 2007 -- NATO says seven of its soldiers were killed when their helicopter crashed late Wednesday in southern Afghanistan.
Officials say the aircraft was a Chinook transport helicopter. There has been no official word on the cause of the crash.
A Taleban spokesman says militants with the extremist group shot the helicopter down. He says nobody on board survived the crash.
The spokesman offered no proof for his claim.
Meanwhile in Washington, a Pentagon spokesman said a seasonal offensive by U.S. and allied forces in Afghanistan has set Taleban militants back for some time. » read more »
Air Force Releases Draft Amendment For New Helicopter Proposals
5/15/2007 - WASHINGTON (AFPN) -- Air Force officials here announced May 14 the release of a draft amendment to the combat search and rescue replacement vehicle request for proposal.
"We're releasing this draft RFP amendment to foster open communications with our partners in industry, the Department of Defense and Congress as we respond to the recommendations made by the (Government Accountability Office)," said Sue C. Navy Helicopter Crashes Near Austin, Nevada
5/8/2007 -- AUSTIN, Nev. (NNS) -- All five crew members of a Navy SH-60F helicopter were killed May 7, in a crash approximately 10 miles west of Austin, Nev.
The crash site was initially located by military aircraft at 9:40 p.m. PDT, 15 minutes after the helicopter crashed. A Navy UH-1N search and rescue helicopter, dispatched from NAS Fallon, arrived at the scene at approximately 10:15 p.m. » read more »
Reid: Senator Reid Statement Regarding Navy Helicopter Crash in Nevada
