J.K. Rowling Finishes First Post-'Harry Potter' Book 'The Tales of Beedle the Bard'

01 November 2007, Washington (By Ray McDonald) -- J.K. Rowling has completed her first book not to feature the teenaged wizard Harry Potter - but don't look for it on the best-seller chart.

The British author says only seven copies of 'The Tales of Beedle the Bard' are being printed. One will be auctioned in December to raise money for a children's charity, while the others have been given away as gifts.    » read more »

'Harry Potter' School Replica Allowed by Indian Court

12 October 2007 -- An Indian court is allowing organizers of a Hindu festival to build a replica of the imaginary school depicted in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books.

A judge ruled Friday that the community group in the eastern Indian city of Kolkata will not have to pay compensation to Rowling.

Washington, 30 July 2007 (By Ray McDonald) -- A yellow man with bulging eyes and an insatiable appetite for donuts rules the U.S. box office. Homer Simpson and his cartoon clan pulled in $71.9 million over the weekend, propelling The Simpsons Movie to number one.

New 'Harry Potter' Book is Amazon.com's Most Popular Pre-Ordered Product

03 July 2007 -- The seventh and final book in J.K.Rowling's Harry Potter series has become Amazon.com's most popular pre-ordered product.

The Internet retailer claims customers have ordered nearly 1.6 million copies ahead of the book's release on July 21. Amazon said on July 2 that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows surpassed the previous record of 1.5 million orders set by its predecessor, Harry Potter and the Half- Blood Prince.

The retailer predicted that orders would continue to rise by "many more hundreds of thousands of copies."    » read more »

Harry Potter Hopes to Enchant Theme Park Visitors

31 May 2007 -- Harry Potter, the fictional young wizard who is the hero of best-selling books and movies, is getting his own theme park in Florida.

The Warner Brothers movie company, which has sold billions of dollars worth of tickets to various Harry Potter films, is teaming up with Universal's Orlando, Florida resort in a deal they hope will enchant visitors.

The park is supposed to look like the castle, magical town, and creepy (frightening) woods featured in the movies.    » read more »
