Ryan Sheckler Hosts First-Time Golf Tournament with Brody Jenner, Mia Hamm, Kevin Federline, Bode Miller Among Those Attending
July 22, 2008 -- Together with Wasserman Media Group, pro skateboarder Ryan Sheckler will host the debut of the Ryan Sheckler X Games Celebrity Skins Classic to be held Tuesday, July 29, at the Trump National Golf Course in Palos Verdes, Calif., as part of the mission of Sheckler’s non-profit organization – The Sheckler Foundation. In addition to Sheckler’s foundation, four other charities will be benefiting from the proceeds of the tournament. ESPN has been involved with and supported all four charities over the years. First Two Rounds on ESPN Were Most-Viewed in Eight Years
June 17, 2008 -- ESPN’s coverage of the 2008 U.S. Open playoff on Monday from noon-2 p.m. ET was the most-viewed golf telecast in cable TV history (4.2 household rating, 4,055,000 household impressions, 4,762,000 viewers). Tiger Woods defeated Rocco Mediate in a sudden playoff at Torrey Pines. ESPN aired the first two hours of the playoff, which went into sudden death. Previously, ESPN’s coverage of the 2008 Masters, which delivered a 3.1 household rating, held the record, averaging 3,014,000 households. » read more »
Tiger Woods Wins Third US Open
16 June 2008 -- World number one golfer Tiger Woods has won his third U.S. Open title, surviving a long playoff with fellow American Rocco Mediate on the challenging Torrey Pines course near San Diego, California.
Both men tied after regulation play on Sunday at one under-par 283. That set up an 18-hole playoff on Monday. Woods built a three-shot lead early before Mediate slowly caught up and was able to grab a one-shot advantage heading into the final hole. But Mediate was not able to seal the win and Woods, still battling to recover from knee surgery, regained a shot with a birdie (one under par on a hole). » read more »

09 September 2007 -- World number one golfer Tiger Woods of the United States matched the lowest final round of his career to win the BMW Championship outside Chicago.
Tiger Woods shot an 8 under par 63 Sunday, giving him a two-shot victory over Australian Aaron Baddeley and four ahead of third-placed compatriot Steve Stricker. 13 August 2007 (By VOA Sports) -- World No. 1 golfer Tiger Woods has captured his 13th career major title and first of the year at the 89th PGA Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Tiger Woods began the final round ahead by three shots. While a number of players made mild attempts to close the gap, Woods held steady at the top of the leaderboard in sweltering heat. He carded a one-under-par 69 to finish at eight-under-par 272.
Tiger Woods appeared to tweak his left knee while celebrating a long putt on the eighth hole. It proved not to be a factor. » read more »

18 June 2007 -- Angel Cabrera of Argentina is the winner of the 107th U.S. Open golf championship played at the Oakmont Country Club near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is the first golfer from his country ever to win the U.S. Open.
The 37-year-old Cabrera shot a final round 69 Sunday on the difficult par-70 course. That earned him a one-shot win over both world number one Tiger Woods and number two Jim Furyk of the United States. Cabrera's winning score for the four rounds was 5 over-par 285. » read more »
Golf: Dougherty in Lead at US Open First Round
15 June 2007 -- English golfer Nick Dougherty has the lead after the first round of the U.S. Open at the Oakmont Country Club near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The par-70 course was difficult, as predicted, and only two golfers were under par Thursday. Dougherty shot a two-under-par 68 for a one-stroke lead over Angel Cabrera of Argentina.
At even par, two shots off the pace, are American Bubba Watson and Spain's Jose Maria Olazabal. World No. 1 Tiger Woods of the United States is in a group of 16 golfers who shot one-over-par 71, three strokes behind the leader. » read more »
