Feingold, Kohl, Ryan Press GM To Reconsider Closing Janesville Plant
June 3, 2008 -- Washington, D.C. – Following the announcement by General Motors that it planned to close its Janesville plant by 2010, U.S. Senators Russ Feingold and Herb Kohl and Representative Paul Ryan sent the following letter to General Motors CEO Rick Wagoner asking him to reconsider the decision to close the Janesville GM plant and requesting a meeting to discuss the possible retooling of the plant for different production lines.

June 03, 2008 -- JANESVILLE – Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle issued the following statement following the announcement by General Motors that it will close the GM plant in Janesville by 2010:
“After all the years of work and everything the people of Janesville have given, it is tough to stomach what GM is doing here today.
“Families here have dedicated their working lives to this General Motors plant. The city of Janesville, the state of Wisconsin – we have all been committed to making this plant work.

MPSC Approves Nearly $6.5 million in Michigan Energy Efficiency Grants
May 8, 2008 -- The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today issued an order approving nearly $6.5 million in Michigan energy efficiency grants for all customer classes to 14 organizations.
"My fellow Commissioners and I are extremely pleased to announce these grants," said MPSC Chairman Orjiakor Isiogu.

Alabama Governor Riley Announces New Auto Supplier Locating in Vance
April 03, 2008 -- MONTGOMERY - Alabama Governor Bob Riley announced today a new automotive supplier will be locating in Vance and will create more than 180 jobs during the next three years.
The company, Stankiewicz International Corp., will manufacture acoustical component, wheel wells and flooring systems for Mercedes and General Motors.

It is expected to initially create 60 new jobs and, at full operation, approximately 184. The company is headquartered in Celle, Germany and has a manufacturing operating in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Its new facility in Vance will be the company’s first in Alabama. » read more »
