GE to Develop Service and Distribution Center in Russia's Kaluga Region
MOSCOW--18 March 2009-- Reinforcing its commitment to support the development of Russia’s energy infrastructure, GE Energy has signed an agreement to build a new facility in the Kaluga Region—about 180 kilometers southwest of Moscow—that will provide services for GE power generation equipment installed in Russia and the Central Asian States. FAIRFIELD, Conn.--12 March 2009-- Standard & Poor’s (S&P) today announced a single-notch downgrade of General Electric Company’s and General Electric Capital Corporation’s (GECC) long-term ratings from AAA to AA+, with a “stable” outlook. The ratings downgrade does not affect GE’s and GECC’s short-term funding ratings of A-1+, which was affirmed by S&P. The action follows a thorough review of GE’s portfolio by S&P.
GECC is one of the only financial services companies in the world with a rating as high as AA+. S&P defines a company with this rating as having a “very strong capacity to meet its financial commitments.” Also, S&P’s "stable" outlook means the rating is unlikely to change in the next six months to two years. » read more »

The GE Rolls-Royce Fighter Engine Team’s F136 development engine for the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) contains third-stage, low-pressure turbine vanes made by GE from ceramic matrix composites (CMC). GE Energy will provide inspections and service for two GE 9FA gas turbines at the Zhejiang Zheneng Zhenhai Power Plant in Ningbo. The plant, which is the biggest gas turbine combined-cycle plant in the Zhejiang Province, has an electricity output of 795.6 megawatts. » read more »
