GE Oil & Gas Wins $250 Million Offshore Drill Systems Contract from Petrobras

Will Supply 250 Subsea Wellhead Systems for Brazil Offshore Drilling Projects; Industry-Wide, Three-Year Frame Agreement Largest Ever Wellhead Contract Awarded to Date

RIO DE JANIERO -- June 8, 2009-- GE Oil & Gas announced today that its drilling & production business has been awarded a three-year frame agreement valued at more than $250 million to supply 250 VetcoGray subsea wellhead systems to Petroleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras) of Brazil, an integrated oil and gas company. In terms of number of wellheads, this is the largest contract awarded to date in the industry.

The advanced wellheads will be manufactured in the GE Oil & Gas Jandira plant in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, with the first unit due for delivery in July 2009.    » read more »

GE Healthcare Opens $165 Million Digital Mammography Production Facility

NORTH GREENBUSH, N.Y. -- 05 June 2009 -- Senior leaders from GE Healthcare and GE Global Research are joining State and local leaders as well as officials from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) today for the grand opening of GE Healthcare’s new, state-of-the-art digital mammography production facility at the Rensselaer Technology Park.

The new 230,000 sq ft facility will add 150 high paying manufacturing jobs in Rensselaer County with an annual payroll of $10 million. Investment in the facility totals over $165 million, including a capital grant of $10 million from New York State. With a focus on “Clean Technologies”, the building has achieved USGBC LEED Gold Certification, making it one of only two semiconductor manufacturing facilities in the US to achieve this status.    » read more »

Vancouver, BC -- June 1, 2009 -- GE Energy Financial Services announced today it has signed an agreement with EarthFirst Canada Inc. (TSX: EF, EF.WT) to consider purchasing the up to 300-megawatt Dokie Ridge Wind Project, the largest wind farm project under construction in British Columbia. Subject to satisfaction of conditions, including due diligence and internal approvals, GE Energy Financial Services has agreed to form a partnership with Plutonic Power Corporation (TSX: PCC) which, provided the acquisition is completed, will own and operate the project, located 1,100 kilometres northeast of Vancouver, near Chetwynd.    » read more »

Swedish Consumers' Energy Use Management Aided By GE Energy Smart Meters

Gothenburg Energy to Install 90,000 GE Smart Meters

COLOGNE, Germany -- 27 May 2009 -- To provide consumers with information to better manage utility costs, Gothenburg Energy has ordered and will deploy 90,000 GE smart meters.

The project will meet a Swedish government mandate, which requires all utilities to have an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) in place by June 1, 2009. The new meters will provide the utility with real-time data access.
