SCHENECTADY, N.Y.--23 June 2009-- GE Energy and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) have signed final agreements to co-develop a “next generation” steam turbine for use in gas turbine combined-cycle power plants.
The co-development effort will focus on the design of a new, advanced steam turbine, leaving each of the parties to separately manufacture and sell the co-developed steam turbine in support of its natural gas-fired, combined-cycle power generation products. » read more »

International Team of Engineers to Develop Next Generation of Energy, Environmental Solutions
BELFORT, France--23 June 2009-- GE Energy today opened a new Technology Center in Belfort, the company’s European headquarters for the past 10 years and its international center of excellence for the manufacturing of medium-sized gas turbines.
The new Technology Center will house up to 400 engineers from 15 different countries, who will work to develop the most advanced technology to help customers address environmental and energy challenges.
Covering 12,000 m2, the center will be fully operational by September2009 and represents GE Energy and Sempat’s (Société patrimoniale du Territoire de Belfort) joint investment of approximately € 25 million. » read more »

WestJet Signs $850 Million Engine MRO Agreement
17 June 2009 -- CALGARY, Alberta - WestJet today announced it has signed an exclusive 12-year OnPoint* solution agreement valued at more than $850 million (USD) over the life of the contract with GE Aviation for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of its fleet of CFM56-7+ engines that power 79 Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft.
As part of the agreement, maintenance, repair and overhaul of WestJet’s engines will be performed at the StandardAero plant in Winnipeg, which has just undergone a major expansion, resulting in additional employment for Manitobans. » read more »

Etihad Airways Orders $3.9 Billion in GE Engines & Services for Boeing 777 & 787 Aircraft
LE BOURGET – June 16, 2009 -- Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has selected the GEnx-1B engine to power its new fleet of 35 Boeing 787-9 aircraft and 10 GE90-115B-powered Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
The total value of both engine orders is worth $2.2 billion (USD) list price. Additionally, the airline holds options for 25 Boeing 787 aircraft and 10 Boeing 777-300ERs with purchase rights for a further 10 Boeing 787 and five Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
Etihad Airways has also signed a multi-year OnPointSM solution agreement with GE Aviation for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of its entire firm GEnx and GE90 engine fleet. The OnPoint solution agreement is valued at more than $1.7 billion (USD) over the life of the agreement. » read more »
Cebu Pacific Expands CFM56-5B-Powered Airbus Fleet with $155 Million Engine Order
LE BOURGET, France — June 16 2009 — Cebu Pacific has selected CFM International’s CFM56-5B engine to power 10 new Airbus A320 aircraft in a firm engine order valued at approximately $155 million U.S., including spare engines. The airline is scheduled to take its first aircraft in October 2010, with deliveries continuing through November 2013.
Cebu Pacific (CEB) took delivery of its first CFM-powered Airbus A320 in 2005. Today, the airline operates a fleet of 21 A319/A320 aircraft, 100% powered by CFM56-5B engines. » read more »
