U.S. Army Awards $921 Million to General Dynamics-Lockheed Martin Team for Continued Development, Acceleration of WIN-T Program

TAUNTON, Mass., September 17, 2007 – The U.S. Army recently awarded the General Dynamics-Lockheed Martin Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T) team contract modifications valued at up to $921 million to continue development of the WIN-T system and to accelerate delivery of WIN-T capabilities to the current modular force. WIN-T will be the Army’s integrating battlefield communications network, providing warfighters fast, secure and mobile access to the U.S. Defense Department’s Global Information Grid.    » read more »

General Dynamics Awarded $57 Million for Production, Analysis and Repair of Combat Vehicles

Sept. 17, 2007, STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – The U.S. TACOM Lifecycle Management Command has awarded General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), $57 million for Stryker production and for Abrams tank maintenance.

The Army awarded $38 million to produce 33 Stryker Medical Evacuation Vehicle variants. The eight-wheeled Stryker provides mobile protection for up to six patients and a medical team. Work will be performed in Anniston, Ala.; Sterling Heights, Mich.; Lima, Ohio; and London, Ontario, Canada, and is expected to be completed by January 2010.    » read more »

General Dynamics-Built NFIRE Satellite Successfully Completes First Missile Defense Experiment

August 23, 2007, GILBERT, Ariz. – The Near Field Infrared Experiment (NFIRE) satellite, built by General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, today successfully completed its first experiment for the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA). In the experiment, NFIRE collected images of a boosting missile launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif., that flew within 3.5 kilometers of the on-orbit satellite. Data collected during this experiment will be used to help with the development of future missile defense technology efforts.    » read more »
