Kansas AG Morrison Charges Former Woodlands General Manager, Seeks Public Assistance
August 22, 2007 -- Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison today announced criminal charges against James Gartland, former general manager of the Woodlands racetrack in Wyandotte County, and is seeking assistance from the public in locating him.
Gartland was charged with three counts of Making False Information, a Level 8, Non-Person Felony, and four counts of Computer Crimes, a Level 8, Non-Person Felony. » read more »
Former NHL Hockey Star Rick Tocchet Sentenced for Operating Multi-million Dollar Sports Gambling Ring
August 17, 2007 -- TRENTON - New Jersey Attorney General Anne Milgram and Criminal Justice Director Gregory A. Paw announced that retired NHL hockey star Rick Tocchet was sentenced today for his role in a multi-million dollar sports bookmaking enterprise.
Tocchet, 43, of Phoenix, Arizona, was ordered to serve two years probation by Superior Court Judge Thomas S. Smith Jr. in Burlington County. Tocchet was sentenced pursuant to his guilty plea to charges of conspiracy and promoting gambling, both in the third degree. » read more »

NBA Referee Pleads Guilty to Gambling Charges
15 August 2007 -- Former National Basketball Association referee Tim Donaghy has surrendered to police and pled guilty in a federal court in New York on gambling charges.
The Associated Press reports the 40-year-old Donaghy surrendered to authorities at Brooklyn federal court, Wednesday. Donaghy pled guilty to two felony counts - conspiracy to engage in wire fraud and gambling on games in which he was officiating. The two charges carry a total of 25 years in prison. » read more »

Carr denied the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma’s motion to expand the scope of its lawsuit to add new claims and parties. Governor asks KRGC to appoint Robert Krehbiel to new post
July 3, 2007 -- With the goal being to ensure proper implementation of the gaming expansion approved by the Legislature this year, Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius has requested that the new post of Chief Gaming Officer be created.
