China: China Says G8 Climate Change Agreement Not Specific Enough
14 June 2007 -- China says the agreement reached by the G8 countries to slow climate change is positive, but officials say the agreement was not specific enough in spelling out the responsibilities of individual countries. Although China is now one of the biggest producers of greenhouse gases, Beijing says the more developed countries bear the biggest responsibility for repairing damage to the climate. 08 June 2007 -- The leaders of the world's major industrialized nations, meeting in Germany, are focusing on Africa Friday, the final session of their three-day annual summit.
President Bush and other national leaders from the Group of Eight are expected to announce a $60 billion program to fight AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis and other diseases in Africa.
Mr. Bush's administration already has pledged $30 billion to fight AIDS in areas where the virus is a major problem, including much of Africa. » read more »
