National Security Higher Education Advisory Board Concludes February Meeting
February 11, 2008 -- The National Security Higher Education Advisory Board (NSHEAB), comprised of 20 university presidents and chancellors, met on February 5, 2008 at FBI Headquarters. The NSHEAB, which was created in 2005 by FBI Director Robert S. Mueller, III, meets regularly to discuss national security matters that intersect with higher education. Senator Ted Kennedy Asks FBI For Interrogation Tapes
December 18, 2007 -- WASHINGTON, DC— Today, Senator Edward M. Kennedy sent the following letter to Robert S. Mueller III, Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, regarding the destruction by the CIA of videotapes of the interrogation of two detainees.
Senator Kennedy requests notification as to whether or not the FBI has retained such videotapes or transcripts, and if so, that they be preserved and make available for inspection.

FBI Recovers 15th Century Spanish Maps Stolen from Madrid
November 8, 2007 -- The FBI today announced the return of two 15th century maps that were stolen from the Spanish National Library in Madrid, Spain, earlier this year. The FBI assisted in the recovery of the maps at the request of the Spanish National Police and Civil Guard. The two maps, from an edition of Ptolemy's Geographia, were recovered by a special agent assigned to the New York FBI's major theft squad and the FBI's Art Crime Team. Immunity Deal Hampers Blackwater Inquiry
30 October 2007 -- U.S. officials say a State Department promise of immunity to Blackwater USA guards may have compromised the probe into last month's shooting deaths of 17 Iraqi citizens.
Blackwater guards are accused of deliberately killing the civilians in Baghdad on September 16. The security firm says the Iraqis were killed when guards responded lawfully to an attack on a U.S. diplomatic convoy.
FBI investigators say the investigation has been hampered because the State Department gave guards immunity for statements, although the State Department had no authority to do so. » read more »
