Washington Governor Gregoire Proclaims Statewide Wildfire Emergency

July 17, 2007 -- OLYMPIA – Washington Governor Chris Gregoire today proclaimed a state of emergency for all 39 Washington counties due to a number wildfires burning across the state, as well as a concern for the availability of resources to deal with a severe and escalating fire season.

“I am taking this step as a precaution,” said Governor Gregoire. “Current wildfires need to be contained, but at the same time, we are looking at weather forecasts that project the possibility of more wildfires for some time to come.”    » read more »

California Governor Schwarzenegger Proclaims State of Emergency in Inyo County Due to Wildfire

07/11/2007 -- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, in response to the Inyo Complex Fire that has burned more than thirty-five thousand acres and caused the contamination of the primary water supply for the City of Independence, today proclaimed a State of Emergency in Inyo County. The Governor directed state agencies to respond with personnel, equipment and facilities under the direction of the Office of Emergency Services (OES) and consistent with the State Emergency Plan. July 10, 2007 -- Salem – Last night Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski invoked the Emergency Conflagration Act in response to a fire known as the “Egley Complex Fire” located west of Hines in Harney County .

In accordance with ORS 476.510-476.610, the Governor determined that a threat to life, safety, and property exists due to the fire and that the threat exceeds the fire-fighting capabilities of local fire-fighting personnel and equipment.    » read more »

06/23/2007 -- California Governor Schwarzenegger today declared a State of Emergency in Kings County due to drought conditions. The Kings County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution requesting emergency status, citing low water tables, limited precipitation and reporting at least $1.2 million in crop damages due to drought conditions. May 7, 2007 -- PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds has declared a state of emergency exists in Eastern South Dakota because of multiple tornadoes and heavy rainfall and has authorized state government resources to be coordinated by the Department of Public Safety, Office of Emergency Management.
