November 30, 2007 -- AUGUSTA -- Maine Governor John E. Baldacci today signed a Declaration of Civil Emergency regarding the high price of diesel fuel and its impact on the State’s forest products industry.
“Diesel prices in Maine are at all-time highs, and it is having a devastating impact on our economy, and particularly on the forest products industry,” Governor Baldacci said. “This emergency order will allow us to take further steps to help truckers and loggers in the State, and place more pressure upon Washington to take action.” » read more »
Papua New Guinea Declares State of Emergency After More Than 70 Die in Floods
20 November 2007 -- Papua New Guinea's cabinet has declared a state of emergency after flooding caused by Cyclone Guba killed at least 70 people.
Officials in the eastern province of Oro appealed for foreign assistance and expressed concern over flood related disease Monday.

10/22/2007 -- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today directed the California National Guard (CNG) to make 1500 guardsmen available to support the firefighting efforts in Southern California. The 1500 guardsmen, including 200 troops currently patrolling the California/Mexico border, will be deployed at the direction of the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (OES) to areas where they can have the greatest impact. » read more »

Colorado Governor Ritter Declares State Of Emergency To Help Farmers Transport Wheat From Farm To Market
August 22, 2007 -- Colorado Governor Bill Ritter today declared a disaster emergency and temporarily suspended certain motor carrier registration requirements because a shortage of commercial vehicles is jeopardizing farmers’ ability to move harvested wheat off the ground and into storage facilities.
The Governor issued an executive order that suspends for 45 days restrictions on the hiring of farm-plated vehicles to transport raw agricultural products to railroad loading points, storage facilities or to market. » read more »
