Mississippi Governor Barbour Announces $41 Million Awarded For Go Zone Disaster Recovery Projects
April 15, 2008 -- (JACKSON, Mississippi) — More than $41 million in disaster recovery grants is being awarded to 39 Mississippi counties and municipalities for individual projects involving disaster recovery, Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour and the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) Disaster Recovery Division announced today.

Federal Aid Programs Announced for Arkansas Disaster Recovery
LITTLE ROCK, Ark., April 9, 2008 -- Federal disaster aid programs provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are available under a presidential disaster declaration to eligible residents living in Baxter, Benton, Independence, Jackson, Lawrence, Logan, Madison, Marion, Randolph, Stone and Woodruff.

Missouri Governor Blunt Activates State Agencies in Response to Violent Storms
April 1, 2008 -- JEFFERSON CITY - Missouri Governor Matt Blunt today issued two State of Emergency Executive Orders for violent storms and severe weather including high winds, hail, tornadoes, flash flooding, and flooding currently affecting a large portion of the state.
The first executive order activates the State Emergency Operations Center, allowing state agency resources to assist local jurisdictions with their emergency response.

Applicant Briefings for Local Officials Begin Disaster Recovery in Eight Wisconsin Counties
March 27, 2008, MADISON, Wis. -- State and Federal officials will hold five briefings to help State, eligible local governments and non-profit organizations in eight counties apply for federal disaster assistance in the wake of the Feb.5 - 6 severe snow storm. The designated counties are Dane, Dodge, Green, Jefferson, Milwaukee, Rock, Walworth, and Washington.
The joint announcement was made by Wisconsin Emergency Management's - State Coordinating Officer (WEM-SCO) Larry Reed and U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Federal Coordinating Officer Ed Smith. Officials from WEM and FEMA will provide information about the scope of the public assistance program.

March 5, 2008, LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) will close this week in Izard, Pope and Sharp counties, state and federal recovery officials announced today.

Tennessee Governor Bredesen Tours Tornado-Damaged Areas
02/06/2008 -- Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen made an aerial tour Wednesday of Macon, Sumner and Trousdale Counties in the wake of deadly tornadoes that struck Tennessee on Tuesday. The storms resulted in an estimated 28 fatalities, 150 injuries and widespread damage in seven counties across Tennessee.
Bredesen spoke with first responders in Macon County, which was one of the hardest hit with more than 68 injured and 12 storm-related fatalities. » read more »
