State Emergency Operations Center activated to coordinate state assistance, prepare for additional icy weather

December 10, 2007 -- SPRINGFIELD – Illinois Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today issued a state disaster proclamation for Morgan County after a weekend ice storm downed trees and power lines, blocking streets and leaving nearly 10,000 homes without power. The proclamation enables the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) to coordinate state resources to support local governments in their disaster response and recovery efforts.    » read more »

December 6, 2007 -- OLYMPIA - Washington Governor Chris Gregoire today sent a letter to President Bush, requesting a federal disaster declaration for two Washington counties hit hard by this week’s storms and flooding. December 5, 2007 -- Carson City— Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons announced today that his request for a Secretarial Disaster Designation from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has been granted for the entire State of Nevada.

On October 16, 2007, Governor Gibbons and the Nevada State Department of Agriculture sent a letter to Acting Secretary for the USDA Charles F. Conner, requesting federal assistance for the State of Nevada due to losses caused by drought and wildfires.    » read more »

USDA Declaration Allows Farmers Access To Federal Disaster Assistance

November 21, 2007 -- LANSING - Michigan Governor Jennifer M. Granholm and Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA) Director Don Koivisto announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has granted the state’s August 2007 request for frost and freeze assistance. Michigan farmers in several counties who have faced weather-related crop losses are now eligible for federal disaster assistance.    » read more »

Oct 19, 2007 -- LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe has declared Crittenden and Lincoln Counties state disaster areas due to the damage caused by thunderstorms and tornadoes on Wednesday, October 17 and early Thursday, October 18.

The declaration releases $100,000 from the Governor’s Disaster Fund to be used by the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management through the Individual Assistance Program. Affected residents in both counties can apply for assistance at their local Department of Human Services offices beginning Monday, October 22.    » read more »

October 15, 2007 -- (Des Moines) -- Iowa Governor Chet Culver today declared Montgomery County a disaster area following heavy rains over the weekend, which have pushed rivers and streams over their banks.

October 11, 2007 -- (DES MOINES) - Iowa Governor Chet Culver has issued a proclamation of disaster emergency for Delaware County following a severe storm that moved through the area on October 7, 2007.
