Statement by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley on Blue Crab Management Decisions by Virginia

ANNAPOLIS, MD (April 23, 2008) – Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley released the following statement today regarding Virginia’s efforts to assist in the rebuilding of the Blue Crab population in the Chesapeake Bay:

Direct state regulators, scientists to implement management strategies to revive imperiled fishery

COLONIAL BEACH, Va. (April 15, 2008) – Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley and Virginia Governor Timothy M. Tropical Crab Invades Georgia Oyster Reefs: Long-Term Impact Can't Be Predicted

4-Sep-2007 -- A dime-sized tropical crab that has invaded coastal waters in the Southeast United States is having both positive and negative effects on oyster reefs, leaving researchers unable to predict what the creature’s long-term impact will be.
