Federal Appeals Court Upholds Death Sentence Of Meth Dealer Who Murdered Man In Harrison County In 1995

August 17, 2007 -- Jefferson City, Mo. — The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit today upheld the conviction and death sentence of methamphetamine dealer John Middleton, who murdered a fellow meth dealer in Harrison County, Missouri in 1995. Middleton also is under two additional death sentences for killing two other people in Mercer County who he believed to be informants. The office of Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon represents the state in defending Middleton’s conviction and sentence.    » read more »

August 17, 2007 -- BOSTON – Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley has agreed to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston's (RCAB) plan to redistribute contributions from its closed parishes to designated successor parishes. Michigan Court Win Protects Great Lakes

August 16, 2007 -- LANSING - Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox announced that his office successfully defended a Michigan law protecting the Great Lakes from further invasion by aquatic nuisance species. The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Detroit by a group of shipping interests, sought to nullify a state law passed in 2005 requiring oceangoing ships to ensure that invasive fish and other aquatic organisms are not released from their ballast tanks. August 15, 2007 -- BOSTON – Today, Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley's Office reached a settlement agreement with Missouri-based ETHEX Corporation, a seller of generic pharmaceuticals, to resolve litigation pending in the U.S District Court in Boston. Noriega: US Judge Delays Ruling on Noriega's Extradition

14 August 2007 -- A U.S. judge has delayed a ruling until later this month on whether former Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega should be extradited to France to face trial.

The judge, William Hoeveler, said in court Monday in Miami, Florida that he will announce a decision on August 24 on Noriega's bid to be sent to Panama. Noriega appeared during the hearing wearing a military uniform.    » read more »

Phil Spector: Jurors Visit Phil Spector's Home

10 August 2007 -- Jurors in the Phil Spector murder trial paid an August 9 visit to the home of the famous music producer, where actress Lana Clarkson died in February, 2003.

The 67-year-old Spector stood with his fourth wife, 26-year-old actress Rachelle Short, as 12 jurors and six alternates toured his elaborate mansion in the Los Angeles suburb of Alhambra. The couple have been living in the house during the four-month trial, as Spector is free on $1 million bail. They did not speak with jurors.    » read more »
