Colorado Rockies Set 2008 MLB Opening Day Roster
DENVER, 03/30/2008 -- The Colorado Rockies made the following roster moves today to set the club's Opening Day 25-man roster. Left-handed pitcher Micah Bowie and outfielder Scott Podsednik have been signed to major league contracts. Additionally, right-handed pitcher Jason Hirsh was placed on the 15-day disabled list (strained right shoulder).

DENVER, 03/29/2008 -- The Colorado Rockies announced the following roster moves after the game against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field on Friday: right-handed pitchers Jose Capellan and Josh Towers cleared outright waivers, and their contracts have been outrighted to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Additionally, catcher Edwin Bellorin, outfielder Cory Sullivan and right-handed pitcher Ryan Speier have been optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs. » read more »

Nine first-time St. Louis Cardinals & three rookies make final roster
ST. LOUIS, 03/30/2008 -- The St. Louis Cardinals today announced their 25-man roster for tomorrow's (3:15 p.m. CDT) season opener with the Colorado Rockies. The Opening Day roster includes nine first-time Cardinals and three rookies.
The team's final pre-season moves included the purchase of non-roster infielder Rico Washington and lefty reliever Ron Villone. The team also optioned pitcher Kelvin Jimenez to Memphis (AAA), returned non-roster infielder D'Angelo Jimenez to minor league camp and placed infielder Brendan Ryan (right oblique strain) on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 21. 03/27/2008, TUCSON -- The Colorado Rockies announced the following roster moves this afternoon: outfielder Seth Smith and infielders Omar Quintanilla and Ian Stewart were optioned to Minor League Spring Training camp. Catcher Humber Cota was re-assigned to Minor League camp. Additionally, non-roster invitee Marcus Giles was granted his unconditional release.
Cota, 29, agreed to terms on a Minor League contract with the Colorado Rockies last Saturday, March 22. He caught 3.0 innings and went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI in his Rockies debut that day. He has played in parts of seven big league seasons with the Pirates since 2001. » read more »
FSN Rocky Mountain to Telecast 85 Colorado Rockies Baseball Games in HD
03/27/2008 -- FSN Rocky Mountain brings Colorado Rockies fans closer to the action than ever before by producing 85 Colorado Rockies games, including all home game telecasts, in high definition during the 2008 MLB season, starting with the Rockies game at St. Louis Thurs., April 3 at 11:15 a.m. MT. This marks a 35 percent increase over last season's 63 game HD schedule.
"We are constantly looking for ways to enhance the local sports fans' viewing experience on our network," said FSN Rocky Mountain Sr. VP/GM Tim Griggs. "Making more HD games available to Rockies fans improves on what has already shown to be a great product."

Colorado Rockies Trade Ramon Ramirez to Kansas City Royals
03/26/2008, TUCSON, Ariz -- The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has traded right-handed pitcher Ramon Ramirez to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for a player to be named later.
Ramon Ramirez, 26, appeared in 22 games for the Colorado Rockies last season, posting a 2-2 record with an 8.31 ERA (17.1 ip, 16 er). The right-hander has pitched in 83 games for Colorado since his major league debut in 2006. As a rookie in 2006, he set the club record for strikeouts by a reliever with 61. Overall Ramirez is 6-5 with a 4.45 ERA (85 ip, 42 er) in parts of two major league seasons (83 games). He made nine appearances for the Rockies in Cactus League play this spring, going 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA (12.2 ip, 2 er). » read more »

03/23/2008, TUCSON - The Colorado Rockies announced today that the following three players have been optioned to minor league camp: infielders Jonathan Herrera and Joe Koshansky and left-handed pitcher Josh Newman. Additionally, the following five players have been re-assigned to minor league camp: right-handed pitchers Darren Clarke and Victor Zambrano, left-handed pitcher Chris George, infielder Matt Kata, and catcher Mike Rose.
Clarke, 27, went 1-0 with a 16.20 ERA (3.1 ip, 6 er), picking up the win on March 1 vs. Milwaukee.
The 23-year-old Herrera went 7-for-17 (.412) with seven singles and two stolen bases in 17 Cactus League games. He spent time at shortstop and second base. » read more »

03/17/2008, TUCSON -- The Colorado Rockies announced the following roster moves this afternoon: right-handed pitcher Juan Morillo was optioned to minor league spring training camp. Additionally, left-handed pitcher John Koronka, catcher Michael McKenry and outfielder Sean Barker were re-assigned to minor league camp.
Morillo, 24, appeared in one Cactus League game and allowed four runs in 0.1 inning.
Koronka, 27, went 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA (4 ip, 1 er) in three Cactus League games. The lefty struck out two and walked two. » read more »

Colorado Rockies Announce 2008 Television Schedule
01/30/2008, DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies and FSN Rocky Mountain have announced the club's television schedule for the 2008 season. There are scheduled to be 150 regular season Rockies games on television this season. Additionally, the network will air eight spring training games and telecast more than 60 regular season games in HD. The club is also scheduled to appear four times on Fox Saturday broadcasts, KDVR 31 locally, along with an appearance on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball on July 13 at the New York Mets. » read more »
