Washington Governor, Coast Guard Rear Admiral Sign Agreement to Enhance Measures to Protect Puget Sound from Oil Spills
June 26, 2007 -- SEATTLE – Washington Governor Chris Gregoire and U. S. Coast Guard Rear Admiral Richard Houck today signed a Memorandum of Agreement governing how the state and federal government will work together to better prevent, prepare for and respond to oil spills in Washington. Coast Guard Announces New Contract For Integrated Deepwater System Program
25 June, 2007 -- WASHINGTON-The Coast Guard today signed task orders on a recent contract modification for the Integrated Deepwater System (IDS) program. The task orders were issued to Integrated Coast Guard Systems (ICGS) of Rosslyn, Va. Changes to the contract that take effect June 25, 2007, address work to be completed during the next 43 months - June 2007 through January 2011 - under the IDS program. Coast Guard Names Senior Procurement Executive
June 19, 2007 -- WASHINGTON – Adm. Thad Allen, commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, today announced the selection of Claire M. Grady as senior procurement executive and head of contracting activity. Grady will assume this senior executive service position in July 2007.
“Successful procurement and contract execution will play a large role in modernizing the Coast Guard, and we are fortunate to have an individual as qualified as Claire Grady leading the Coast Guard’s procurement and contracting efforts,” said Allen. » read more »
Rábago Takes Over Coast Guard's Deepwater Program
June 8, 2007 -- WASHINGTON – Rear Adm. Ronald J. Rábago relieved Rear Adm. Gary T. Blore today as the program executive officer of the U.S. Coast Guard’s largest recapitalization and modernization initiative, the $24 billion, 25-year Deepwater program.
Blore is slated to become the next assistant commandant for acquisition and chief acquisition officer of the Coast Guard. The shift in leadership at the acquisition directorate and Deepwater is the result of organizational changes ordered last year by Adm. Thad Allen, commandant of the Coast Guard. » read more »

Haiti: Haitian Migrant Boat Capsizes, Killing 20
04 May 2007 -- U.S. Coast Guard officials say a boat carrying more than 100 Haitian migrants has capsized near the Turks and Caicos islands, killing at least 20 people. In Miami, VOA's Brian Wagner reports that Coast Guard officials are assisting in search and rescue operations.
Coast Guard officials say police in the Turks and Caicos intercepted the overloaded boat before dawn and were bringing it into port when the vessel capsized. Authorities for the British territory in the Caribbean called U.S. Coast Guard officials to help in the search and rescue operation. » read more »
