12/12/2007, CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox have declined to tender 2008 contracts to infielder Andy Gonzalez and left-handed pitcher Heath Phillips.

Gonzalez, who turns 26 on December 15, batted .185 (35-189) with two home runs and 11 RBI in 67 games as a rookie with the White Sox in 2007. He also hit .242 (30-124) with three homers and 17 RBI in 35 games with Class AAA Charlotte last season.    » read more »

Chicago White Sox designate Heath Phillips for assignment

12/03/2007, CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox have acquired outfielder Carlos Quentin from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for minor-league first baseman Chris Carter. The White Sox also have designated left-handed pitcher Heath Phillips for assignment.

Carlos Quentin, 25, batted .214 (49-229) with 16 doubles, five home runs and 31 RBI in 81 games with Arizona in 2007 and .348 (40-115) with four homers and 27 RBI in 33 games with Class AAA Tucson. He hit two home runs and drove in five on May 21 vs. Colorado.    » read more »

10/26/2007, CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox have outrighted right-handed pitcher Ryan Bukvich to Class AAA Charlotte, and reinstated infielders Joe Crede and Pablo Ozuna from the 60-day disabled list. Bukvich will become a free agent.

Bukvich, 29, went 1-0 with a 5.05 ERA (20 ER/35.2 IP) in 45 relief appearances with the White Sox in 2007. He was signed by the Sox as a free agent on November 20, 2006.    » read more »

Cox, 51, brings 35 years of experience in professional baseball as a player, coach and manager, including six as a third base coach at the major-league level. He spent the last two seasons as third base coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates and held the same position with the Florida Marlins (2004-05), Montreal Expos (2001) and Kansas City Royals (1995).    » read more »

10/11/2007, CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox have announced the club's tentative 2008 regular-season schedule, with the White Sox opening at the Cleveland Indians (March 31, April 2-3). It is the club's first opening day on the road since 2004. The Sox open their 18th season at U.S. Cellular Field against the Minnesota Twins (April 7, 9 and 10).
