CHICAGO, 03/27/2008 -- This summer, the Chicago White Sox will host the first-ever Double Duty Classic - an event celebrating the history and tradition of Negro Leagues baseball in Chicago and promoting the next generation of inner-city baseball players.
The game will take place on Monday, July 7 at U.S. Cellular Field with inner city high school players from across the Midwest (Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Milwaukee and St. Louis) participating in the All-Star showcase. Those new elements include:
* "Champions Plaza"/"Championship Moments Monument": The White Sox will unveil the "Champions Plaza" and "Championship Moments" monument, prior to the game on Friday, April 11. The new brick plaza, located at the ballpark's main entrance at Gate 4, is comprised of "legacy bricks" inscribed with personal messages from fans and features an historic timeline highlighting franchise milestones. » read more »

Sculpture of Popular White Sox Player to be Unveiled in July 2008
03/23/2008, CHICAGO - A life-sized sculpture of franchise legend and longtime fan favorite Harold Baines will be unveiled by the Chicago White Sox prior to their game vs. Kansas City on Sunday, July 20 at U.S. Cellular Field.
Harold Baines becomes the seventh White Sox great immortalized in bronze at the ballpark. Sculptures of club founder Charles A. Comiskey and Cuban great Orestes "Minnie" Minoso were unveiled in 2004. Carlton Fisk's sculpture was installed in 2005, while the famous double-play duo of Luis Aparicio and Nellie Fox was honored with sculptures in 2006. Last season, a sculpture of White Sox pitching star Bill Pierce was unveiled on the concourse near centerfield. » read more »

02/13/2008, CHICAGO -- Dario Lodigiani, a well-known former major-league player, coach and long-time scout for the Chicago White Sox, passed away Sunday night at Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, California at age 91.
Dario Lodigiani continued to serve as a part-time scout for the White Sox in Northern California until his death, receiving a World Series championship ring from the White Sox following the 2005 playoffs.
Among players he discovered and/or signed were former Cy Young Award winner Jack McDowell and White Sox General Manager Ken Williams. » read more »
