Handgun Once Owned by Elvis Presley Stolen From Tennessee Museum

21 August 2007 -- A handgun once owned by Elvis Presley was stolen from a museum in the music titan's home town of Memphis, Tennessee.

Authorities said the black, 9mm Smith & Wesson pistol was stolen from a display case in the Elvis After Dark museum, across the street from Presley's Graceland mansion.

A video camera caught a man removing the pistol from the display case around midnight.

The theft came to light on August 17, when a visitor noticed an unfastened glass panel on the case. Officials from Graceland, which owns the museum, subsequently viewed the video tape.    » read more »

20 August 2007 -- The lawyer for National Football League quarterback Michael Vick has announced that the Atlanta Falcons star has reached an agreement to plead guilty to federal felony dogfighting conspiracy charges.

15 August 2007 -- Lindsay Lohan is being sued by a woman who was a passenger in a car the actress allegedly chased while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Filing the August 14 lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Tracie Rice said Lohan "put me through one of the most frightening experiences of my life."

The lawsuit alleges assault and negligence on Lohan's part, along with intentional infliction of emotional distress. It seeks unspecified damages and also payment of medical and other expenses related to emotional distress.    » read more »

07 August 2007 -- Mia Farrow has offered to relinquish her freedom so that an ailing Darfur rebel can get safe passage out of a hospital.

In an August 6 letter posted on her website, the 62-year-old actress-activist made the offer to Sudan's President Omar Al-Bashir.

Suleiman Jamous, a moderate who has been a key link between Darfur rebels and aid workers in the beleaguered Sudanese region, is in a U.N. hospital suffering from abdominal problems. The U.N. said he is free to leave, but he fears arrest or government reprisal.    » read more »
