Charlize Theron Named Esquire Magazine's Sexiest Woman Alive

11 October 2007 -- Sexiest woman alive? That would be Charlize Theron. Esquire Magazine has anointed the 32-year-old actress with the title, previously bestowed on such stars as Angelina Jolie, Jessica Biel, and Scarlett Johansson.

The issue featuring Charlize Theron arrives Oct. 16. Charlize Theron spoke about growing up on a farm in South Africa, her political interests, and her work, including her latest film, the Iraq War-themed murder mystery In The Valley Of Elah.

David Hasselhoff Hospitalized Following Alcohol Relapse

10 October 2007, Washington (By Ray McDonald) -- Speaking to the entertainment web site TMZ.com, the 55-year-old actor's publicist Judy Katz said "David had a brief relapse (of alcoholism) and immediately recognized the importance of addressing it with the assistance of his doctors. He is doing fine and will be back home in the morning."

David Hasselhoff, who in May won primary physical custody of his two teenage daughters, has been in Europe for the past month filming Anaconda 3.

Court Rules Britney Spears May Visit Sons, Ex-Husband Kevin Federline Retains Custody

04 October 2007 -- A court commissioner ruled on October 3 that Britney Spears may visit her two young sons, but her ex-husband Kevin Federline will retain primary custody of the children.

Superior Court Commissioner Scott M. Gordon was expected to issue an order detaling the visitation rights, said Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan. Kevin Federline attended the hearing but Britney Spears did not. Her attorney, Sorrell Trope, did not speak to reporters.

Court spokesman Allan Parachini said Britney Spears would be allowed monitored visits every other day.    » read more »

02 October 2007 -- Britney Spears was ordered to relinquish custody of her two young sons by a judge who had cited her drug and alcohol-fueled lifestyle.

Director John McTiernan Sentenced to 4 Months in Prison

25 September 2007, Washington (By Ray McDonald) -- A federal judge Monday sentenced Hollywood director John McTiernan to four months in prison, after refusing to allow him to withdraw his guilty plea to charges of lying to the FBI about his association with disgraced private eye Anthony Pelicano.

Judge Dale S. Fischer gave the director of such films as Die Hard and The Thomas Crown Affair until January 15 to turn himself in to authorities.

Kiefer Sutherland Arrested in West LA on Drunken Driving Charges

25 September 2007, Washington (By Ray McDonald) -- Kiefer Sutherland was arrested early Tuesday on misdemeanor drunk driving charges after reportedly failing a field sobriety test.

Officer Kevin Maiberger says the 40-year-old star of the TV series 24 was pulled over at about 1:10 a.m. in West Los Angeles after officers spotted him making an illegal U-Turn. Officer Karen Smith says Kiefer Sutherland tested over California's legal blood alcohol limit of .08 percent, and was arrested on a misdmeanor charge of driving under the influence.    » read more »

With jurors split 7-5, Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler said on September 19 he planned to withdraw a legal instruction that some panelists cited as a point of dispute when they announced their impasse the previous day. 19 September 2007, Washington (By Ray McDonald) -- Britney Spears must undergo random drug and alcohol testing twice a week, according to court documents in her custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

19 September 2007 -- Former U.S. football star O.J. Simpson has been released from jail on $125,000 bail, facing 11 charges related to an alleged armed robbery.
