Reese Witherspoon Highest Paid Actress in Hollywood

30 November 2007, Washington (By Ray McDonald) -- The 31-year-old Reese Witherspoon, who earned a 2005 Best Actress Academy Award for Walk The Line, commands $15 to $20 million per movie. This places her atop The Hollywood Reporter's annual list of female moneymakers.

Angelina Jolie runs a close second, although her latest film Beowulf earned the 32-year-old actress a comparatively paltry $8 million. Cameron Diaz was third, with a $15 million-per-movie price tag.    » read more »

David Copperfield Sued by Promoters for $2.2 Million

12 November 2007, Washington (By Ray McDonald) -- Promoters are suing David Copperfield for nearly $2.2 million, after the illusionist pulled out of 48 shows in the face of rape claims. Filed November 6 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the breach of contract suit names Copperfield, his company and one of his attorneys, Albert Rettig. Lane Garrison Sentenced to Over 3 Years in Jail

01 November 2007, Washington (By Ray McDonald) -- Actor Lane Garrison was sentenced on October 31 to three years and four months in prison for a drunken driving crash that killed a 17-year-old Beverly Hills High School student in December.

Speaking to the former actor in the Prison Break FOX TV series, Superior Court Judge Elden S. Fox said "The public has a right to know that conduct such as this, causing devastation such as this will have consequences. Unfortunately, in this case, you have to be the messenger."    » read more »
