President Obama Expected to Bring a Clean Energy Message to Canada

WASHINGTON (February 18, 2009)—As President Obama prepares for his first international trip to Ottawa, Canada, on Thursday, it’s expected that there will be a significant focus on energy and environmental issues.

In the United States, President Obama has emphasized the need to transform America to a clean energy economy. DHS Secretary Napolitano Issues Additional Action Directives on Cyber Security and Northern Border Strategy

January 23, 2009 -- U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano today issued a second round of action directives on cyber security and the northern border strategy.

These action directives instruct specific offices to gather information, review existing strategies and programs, and to provide oral and written reports back to her by mid February. In the coming days, Secretary Napolitano will continue to issue additional action directives focused on the missions critical to the department: Protection, Preparedness, Response, Recovery and Immigration.

"This continuing evaluation will unify our shared efforts and help me assess where improvements need to be made," said Secretary Napolitano.

Possible Sighting of FBI Fugitive in British Columbia

January 23, 2009 -- The FBI is working with Canadian authorities to confirm the possible sighting of one of its Domestic Terrorism fugitives.

Last November, the Bureau announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of four eco-terrorists known as “The Family.”

Rebecca Rubin, one of the four fugitives, was spotted by a tipster who may have seen her near her hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia.

We received several tips about all of the fugitives as a result of the publicity.

The FBI is working through its agents assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa as well as the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to follow up on this information.    » read more »

US, Canada Hit by Severe Winter Weather

16 December 2007 -- A major winter storm has hit both the U.S. midwest and northeastern part of the country, as well as eastern Canada.

Sunday's wintry blast caused hazardous driving conditions and resulted in hundreds of flight cancellations at local airports.

Officials say both Chicago and Boston have received up more than 25 centimeters of snow.
