Maine Holiday Burglars Arrested

December 19, 2007 -- State Police have arrested two men in connection with a series of home burglaries in central Maine, including two in which wrapped Christmas toys and presents were stolen. Working with a number of police and sheriff’s departments, State Police detectives arrested Tuesday Karl Kittridge, 43, of Chelsea and Troy Hallett, 39, of Hallowell and charged them with burglary. Hallett is charged with five counts and Kittridge is charged with three. Kittridge has been released on bail and Hallett was due to make his first appearance in court today.    » read more »

California Retail Burglary Scheme Busted in San Diego

December 10, 2007 -- SAN DIEGO — California Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced that two Texan shoplifters will be arraigned today on commercial burglary charges for buying and returning $375,000 in stolen goods at retailers including Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Victoria’s Secret and Gap across 34 states.

Commenting on today’s arraignment, Attorney General Brown said, “This was not petty theft—-these sophisticated rip-off artists bought and returned items in 34 states and racked up tens of thousands of dollars on 27 debit cards.”    » read more »
