New Hampshire Gov. Lynch, Commissioner Campbell Announce 35 Local Projects to Receive Stimulus Funds
$29 Million in Federal Funds Will Help Repair 19 Red-List Bridges
May 15, 2009 -- CONCORD - New Hampshire Governor John Lynch and Transportation Commissioner George Campbell today announced that federal stimulus funds have made it possible for the state to pay for 35 municipal road and bridge projects across the state. The projects include 22 local bridges, 19 of which are red-listed bridges.
Stimulus funds, in conjunction with highway funds, will make it possible to cover 100 percent of the construction costs for the 35 projects. » read more »
Washington Gov. Gregoire Signs Bill To Fund And Build SR 520 Floating Bridge Replacement
May 13, 2009 -- ABERDEEN – Washington Governor Chris Gregoire today signed Engrossed Substitute House Bill 2211, approving construction and funding for a new SR 520 floating bridge replacement which will open to drivers in 2014. The bill authorizes tolling on SR 520 beginning next year. The combination of toll revenue, previously authorized state gas taxes, and federal funds closes the funding gap and allows the new floating bridge to move forward.
“Supporting a new SR 520 bridge replacement will help ensure our regional economy stays strong,” said Gregoire. “The new bridge will get travelers safely to their jobs at the University of Washington, the global health center in Seattle’s South Lake Union, and the technology hub on the east side of the lake.” » read more »

May 12, 2009 -- AMES – Iowa Governor Chet Culver today announced that the Iowa Transportation Commission has approved funding to aid in the completion of several key infrastructure projects across the state. Georgia Governor Perdue Certifies $187 Million in Stimulus Road Projects
May 5, 2009 -- ATLANTA – Today Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue announced that he has submitted the required “1511 Certification” on 51 road projects around the state that will be funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). These projects, together with the list certified in April, represent all of the projects that are eligible for certification at present.

April 28, 2009 -- MADISON – Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle today announced the bids for the first road and bridge projects in Wisconsin funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act came in 7.2% lower than expected for a savings of $8,910,690. 3/24/2009 -- North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue announced today that work will begin in April on the state’s first nine highway and bridge projects funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The contracts total $36.3 million and were awarded today by Transportation Secretary Gene Conti to the lowest respective bidders, as required by state law. A list of the projects is attached.

State of California Taps 57 Transportation Projects For Federal Economic Stimulus Funding
March 11, 2009 -- Sacramento - A list of 57 transportation projects – totaling $625 million – was adopted today by the California Transportation Commission (CTC) as the first in line to receive infrastructure-focused federal economic stimulus dollars.
The CTC also voted to allocate funding for 56 of these projects, pending only final approval by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to release the stimulus funds, enabling construction to begin. The 57th project is the reconstruction of Doyle Drive in San Francisco, which is the southern access to the Golden Gate Bridge and is awaiting approval from the CTC for the environmental approval phase before being presented to the commission for consideration of a funding allocation next month. » read more »
Washington Gov. Gregoire And WSDOT Announces First Advertisements For Transportation Contracts In Kittitas, Pacific Counties
March 9, 2009 -- OLYMPIA - Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire along with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) today announced Washington’s first state highway construction “Washington Jobs Now” projects funded by the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (AARA) were advertised to contractors.
The WSDOT advertised three contracts worth nearly $9 million this week that will ensure the continued availability of Interstate 90 as a safe and reliable cross-state corridor and will preserve US 101 and SR 103 in Pacific County.
In all, WSDOT will build 34 Washington Jobs Now stimulus projects valued at $341 million, supporting an estimated 3,300 jobs. » read more »

March 9, 2009 -- Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced she has directed the Department of Transportation to immediately begin working with municipal leaders on a plan that would secure state funding for local bridge maintenance and repair.
The $28 million local bridge program has provided financial assistance to towns and cities since 1984, but because of the serious budget deficit the state is facing, the bridge program had been slated for possible suspension.
