Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski, who won Baseball's Triple Crown and the American League Most Valuable Award in 1967, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to Game One of the 2007 World Series on Wednesday night at Fenway Park.
John Williams, reknowned American composer and conductor and five-time Academy Award winner will conduct America's orchestra, the Boston Pops, in the playing of the Star Spangled Banner prior to Game One. Ed Montague appointed crew chief for the 103rd Fall Classic
10/23/2007 -- Ed Montague, a veteran of 32 years of Major League umpiring, will serve as the crew chief at the 2007 World Series and will call balls and strikes at Game One of the 2007 Fall Classic, it was announced today.
Montague's crew will include Laz Diaz (ninth year), Ted Barrett (11th year), Chuck Meriwether (16th year), Mike Everitt (ninth year) and regular season crew chief Mike Reilly (31st year). » read more »

22 October 2007 -- The Boston Red Sox have defeated the Cleveland Indians, 11-2, to reach Major League Baseball's World Series.
Cleveland had led the best-of-seven American League Championship Series, 3-1, before Boston won three straight. In the decisive Game Seven Sunday at Fenway Park in Boston, the Red Sox opened a 2-0 lead early in the game.
Cleveland pulled to within one run. But with the score 3-2 in the seventh inning, Boston rookie second baseman Dustin Pedroia blasted a two-run home run to seal the victory. Pedroia drove in three more runs in the eighth inning. » read more »

The visiting Colorado Rockies were leading 2-1 in the bottom of the ninth inning when Arizona Diamondback's Eric Byrnes drove in the trying run.
