Bolivia Declares National Disaster After Flooding Kills 50
12 February 2008 -- Bolivian President Evo Morales has declared a national disaster in the Andean country following heavy rains and flooding that have killed at least 50 people in recent weeks.
Mr. Morales issued the decree Tuesday to release government aid to flooded areas. On Monday, he toured the hard-hit city of Trinidad, where officials have pitched tents to accommodate people fleeing the town's flooded outskirts.
Officials say the flooding has affected some 45,000 families across Bolivia.

Presidents of Venezuela, Bolivia, and Argentina Meet on Energy Issues
10 August 2007 -- The presidents of Venezuela, Bolivia, and Argentina met Friday in the southern Bolivian town of Tarija.
Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, Bolivia's Evo Morales, and Argentina's Nestor Kirchner signed agreements to share the costs of energy production. They agreed to fund the construction of a gas-separation plant near Bolivia's border with Argentina.
Mr. Chavez has been campaigning for more integration of the energy industry in South America. Bolivia is his last stop on a four-nation tour meant to promote South American energy production. » read more »

COLOGNE, Germany, May 3, 2007 - An emissions reductions purchase agreement (ERPA) was signed today between the Community Development Carbon Fund (CDCF) which is managed by the World Bank, and SAGUAPAC, a Bolivian sanitation and waste water treatment cooperative. The agreement was signed during Carbon EXPO 2007, the largest trade fair and conference for the booming global carbon market. » read more »
