01 July 2007 -- In Major League Baseball, Oakland pitchers Chad Gaudin and Rich Harden combined for a one-hitter, leading the Athletics to a 7-0 win over the lethargic New York Yankees.

Gaudin gave up a single in the sixth inning Saturday, while his Oakland teammates hit three home runs off Yankee pitcher Kei Igawa.

25 June 2007 -- Major League Baseball's defending American League champion Detroit Tigers have won their seventh straight game, shutting down the Atlanta Braves, 5-0.

Detroit's rookie pitcher Andrew Miller threw six sharp innings Sunday, handing the Braves their fourth shutout in their past five games.

The Tigers finished interleague play Sunday with a 14-4 record against National League teams, tying the Los Angeles Angels for the best mark in the majors.

24 June 2007 -- In Major League Baseball interleague action, San Francisco rookie Nate Schierholtz drove in the game-ending run in the 13th inning Saturday to give the Giants a 6-5 win over the New York Yankees.

The Giants had to rally from an early three-run deficit, and overcome a game-tying home run in the ninth inning by Yankee star Alex Rodriguez.

In the first game Japanese pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka earned his sixth win of the season - a 13-3 victory for host Boston. He was helped by four Boston home runs.

Atlanta pitcher John Smoltz then tossed seven shutout innings in the second game, as the Braves routed Boston, 14-0, handing the Red Sox their worst shutout in 17 years.

19 May 2007 -- In a rematch of Major League Baseball's World Series last year, the Detroit Tigers crushed the champion St. Louis Cardinals, 14-4.

The host Tigers scored nine runs in the fifth inning Friday, on the way to amassing three more runs in one game than they did in the entire five-game World Series.

14 May 2007 -- In Major League Baseball, the Boston Red Sox rallied with six runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat the Baltimore Orioles, 6-5.

The Orioles committed two errors in the ninth, allowing the Red Sox to complete the comeback victory.

Two other American League games also ended with teams winning in the bottom of the ninth.

13 May 2007 -- In a Major League Baseball game that ended nearly two hours after midnight with a grand slam, the Washington Nationals beat the Florida Marlins, 7-3.

Ryan Zimmerman hit the game-ending, bases-loaded blast with two outs in the ninth inning of the contest, which was delayed nearly four hours by rain.

Florida led 3-2 heading into the bottom of the ninth, which was delayed 47 minutes by the second rainstorm of the game here in the nation's capital.    » read more »
