Mass. AG Reaches $2 Million Settlement With Drug Manufacturer Barr Pharmaceuticals To Resolve Price Reporting Litigation

October 05, 2007 -- BOSTON – Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley’s Office entered into a settlement with Barr Laboratories, Inc. and Duramed Pharmaceuticals, Inc., wholly owned subsidiaries of New Jersey based generic drug manufacturer Barr Pharmaceuticals, Inc regarding litigation pending in the Federal District Court in Boston. In that litigation, the Commonwealth sued thirteen generic drug manufacturers, including Barr and Duramed, for allegedly inflating the prices that they reported to national price reporting services.    » read more »

June 13, 2007 - Vermont Attorney General William H. Sorrell today announced the settlement of a civil law enforcement action against the makers of the popular oral contraceptive product Ovcon. The lawsuit, joined by thirty-three other states and the District of Columbia, charged Warner Chilcott and Barr Pharmaceuticals with antitrust violations that have prevented generic versions of Ovcon, from reaching the marketplace. Utah Shares In Settlement Over Contraceptive

Utah will get part of a $5.5 million antitrust lawsuit settlement involving a popular oral contraceptive. Attorney General Mark Shurtleff and attorneys general from 33 other states and the District of Columbia accused Warner Chilcott and Barr Pharmaceuticals with anti-trust violations that prevented generic versions of the drug Ovcon from reaching the marketplace.

Massachusetts will receive over $132,000 from the settlement.
