WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2008, BAGHDAD — U.S. Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey today traveled to Baghdad to meet with Iraqi and U.S. officials involved in ongoing efforts to establish the rule of law in Iraq. In addition to participating in meetings with General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker, the Attorney General met with some of the more than 200 Department of Justice personnel who are currently serving in the U.S. Mission in Iraq. » read more »
At Least 50 Killed in Baghdad Suicide Bomb Attack
01 August 2007 (By VOA News) -- Iraqi police say at least 50 people were killed when a suicide bomber detonated a fuel tanker near a gas station in western Baghdad.
The attack also wounded 60 people Wednesday in Baghdad's Mansour neighborhood. Earlier, a car bomb blast in central Baghdad killed at least 17 people and wounded more than 30 others.
In political developments, Iraq's largest Sunni Arab political bloc has announced its withdrawal from Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's coalition government, saying he has failed to meet the bloc's demands. » read more »
Car Bomb Kills 6 in Baghdad, Iraq
30 July 2007 (By VOA News) -- Iraqi police say a car bomb killed six people in central Baghdad Monday, ending the brief drop in violence that came while Iraq celebrated its first Asia Cup football championship.
Authorities said at least 12 people were wounded in the blast in al-Tayran square, a transport hub in the center of the city. » read more »
