SAN RAMON, Calif., October 18, 2009 - Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX) today announced an additional natural gas discovery in the Greater Gorgon area's Carnarvon Basin, Australia's premier offshore hydrocarbon zone.
The Achilles-1 exploration well, located approximately 100 miles (160 kilometers) off the coast of northwest Australia, was drilled to a total depth of 14,800 feet (4,500 meters) and encountered approximately 325 feet (100 meters) of net gas pay. » read more »

15-year Deal Builds on Several Recent Supply Commitments Commercializing Chevron's Equity Natural Gas in Australia
SAN RAMON, Calif., September 15, 2009 - Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX) today announced that its Australian subsidiaries have signed a Heads of Agreement (HOA) with the Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) for 1.5 million metric tons per annum (MTPA) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Gorgon project.
As part of the arrangement, Chevron and KOGAS have an option to extend the 15-year agreement for a further five years. The parties are also discussing LNG sales and an equity purchase from Chevron's Wheatstone project, located in northwest Australia. » read more »

Readout of President Obama’s call with Prime Minister Rudd of Australia
June 24, 2009 -- The President spoke with Prime Minister Rudd on Tuesday evening, June 23rd. They discussed the North Korea nuclear issue, including ways in which the United States and Australia can work together to ensure full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1874.
They noted their upcoming July travel to Italy, where they will see each other at the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate, and discussed ways to cooperate on the Forum’s issues.

The five-year contract, which is an extension of an existing services agreement, is worth a total of AU$745million. Australia's Telstra Signs Applications Services Contract with EDS
Sydney, June 8, 2009 -- EDS, an HP company, has signed one of two expanded applications services contracts – with a combined value of $330 million (AU$450 million) – that Telstra, Australia’s largest telecommunications provider, announced today to improve performance and lower costs.
EDS’ five-year, $140 million (AU$190 million) deal is one of the largest application management engagements signed this year in Australia. Its agreement also includes potential additional discretionary opportunities of up to $245 million (AU$334 million). Under the agreement, which runs through to 2014, EDS will provide applications development and management services for Telstra’s critical business applications. » read more »

GE Joins Australian Government-Backed Initiative to Develop Carbon Capture and Storage Power Plants Worldwide
SCHENECTADY, N.Y.--16 April 2009-- GE Energy announced that it is joining an Australian government-supported initiative to facilitate the development and deployment of carbon capture and storage projects worldwide.
Under a memorandum of understanding signed by General Electric International and the Australian government, GE is becoming a founding member of the Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute (GCCSI). The institute will provide international policy and management oversight with a goal of delivering commercial-scale CCS plants around the world.
