Swedish Artist Lars Vilks Threatened with Death for Mohammad Cartoon
18 September 2007 -- Swedish police have ordered artist Lars Vilks out of his own home telling him it is no longer safe for him to live there.
The head of al-Qaida in Iraq, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, says he will pay as much as $150,000 to anyone who can kill Vilks because of what he calls offensive pictures of the Muslim Prophet Mohammad.
Lars Vilks says police have told him that the threats on his life are very serious. He says he was only allowed to return to his house in Stockholm to pick up a few items. » read more »

She will begin her new role as the director of the C.O.R.P.S. pre-professional program at Portland Ballet as the school commences with its yearly classes on September 6th. Wednesday, August 29, 2007, FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky Arts Council is now accepting applications for the Teacher Initiated Project grant program to help teachers bring professional artists into the classroom for one- to four-week residencies in the spring of 2008. The grants range from $540 to $2,160, depending on the length of the residencies. During these planned residencies, artists demonstrate their art forms and provide students and teachers in elementary, middle and high schools with repeated opportunities to learn about and experience the making of art. » read more »
