Connecticut Governor Rell Announces Grants for Connecticut Cultural Attractions
April 7, 2008 -- Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that the state has awarded more than $1.1 million in matching grants to 44 organizations across the state to help fund projects that enrich cultural attractions and draw visitors to Connecticut.

The grants, awarded by the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism (CCT) are the result of $4 million in new funding allocated by Governor Rell in the state’s 2007-2008 budget. » read more »

Washington, 15 January 2008 (By Susan Logue) -- Ansel Adams was one of the most famous art photographers who ever lived. His black and white landscape photos have been reproduced in books, and on posters, cards, and calendars around the world. But VOA’s Susan Logue reports, an exhibition at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington shows there was more to Adams’ art than his landscapes.

FBI Recovers 15th Century Spanish Maps Stolen from Madrid
November 8, 2007 -- The FBI today announced the return of two 15th century maps that were stolen from the Spanish National Library in Madrid, Spain, earlier this year. The FBI assisted in the recovery of the maps at the request of the Spanish National Police and Civil Guard. The two maps, from an edition of Ptolemy's Geographia, were recovered by a special agent assigned to the New York FBI's major theft squad and the FBI's Art Crime Team. New York City Art Auction Brings in Almost $400 Million
07 November 2007 -- A painting by French artist Henri Matisse was the top seller at an art auction in New York City Tuesday night.
An unidentified buyer paid nearly $34 million for a 1937 Matisse portrait ("L'Odalisque, Harmonie Bleue"). It was far above the estimated $20 million set by Christie's auction house. The price broke the record of nearly $22 million paid for a Matisse painting at London's Sotheby's auction house in June. » read more »
