$1.4 Million In ARRA Funds For Colorado Americorps
June 18, 2009 -- Colorado Governor Bill Ritter announced seven Colorado organizations have been awarded almost $1.4 million in AmeriCorps*State grants from the Corporation for National and Community Service. These awards are funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Bill signed in April by President Barack Obama.
The funding means communities around Colorado will have 612 AmeriCorps members working on projects to assist in areas impacted by the economic downturn. The funds will be used to expand existing community activities such as tutoring, building affordable housing, environmental restoration, after school programs, teaching computer skills, responding to disasters, improving health services and others. » read more »
Wisconsin Governor Doyle Announces $2.58 Million in Recovery Funding for AmeriCorps Programs
June 17, 2009 -- MADISON - Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle today announced that the Wisconsin National and Community Service Board (Serve Wisconsin AmeriCorps) received $1,955,505 in American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) funding to expand the capacity of 17 of its existing AmeriCorps programs in Wisconsin. June 2, 2009 -- U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer today announced that the Corporation for National and Community Service will provide a total of $7,719,922 to 13 community centers in New York City. The funding will hire 1,338 AmeriCorps workers to help New York City students improve their education.

June 2, 2009 -- DOVER - Delaware Governor Jack Markell announced Tuesday that the Division of Parks and Recreation will receive nearly $370,000 in AmeriCorps grant funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service. The grant will support a total of 65 AmeriCorps members who will meet vital needs across the state in environmental and preservation initiatives.

Senator Tim Johnson Announces Funding for Red Cloud Indian School's AmeriCorps Program
May 29, 2009 -- Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tim Johnson (D?SD) announced today that the Teaching the Young People AmeriCorps program at the Red Cloud Indian School in Pine Ridge will receive a $234,160 federal grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service. The funding allows 22 AmeriCorps members to receive up to $4,725 to pay for college or qualified student loans.
