Alcoa to Supply Armor Plate for New Army MRAP Vehicle

10/8/2007 DAVENPORT, Iowa & NEW YORK (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Alcoa announced today that the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) has selected the company’s North American Rolled Products business to supply a need for aluminum armor plate to support the new MRAP armored vehicle program. MRAP vehicles are designed to survive IED (improvised explosive devise) and ambush attacks.

Shipments of the aluminum plate will begin in November 2007 and run through June 2008.    » read more »

That’s the finding in a new economic impact study done on Alcoa Inc.’s East Tennessee operations, which include facilities in Blount, Knox and Hamblen Counties.
