August 21, 2007 -- ATLANTA - Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement regarding Delta Air Lines’ announcement this afternoon of a new Chief Executive Officer:

Senator Menendez Calls For Immediate Action To Reduce Flight Delays

Senator welcomes new FAA congestion taskforce and provides recommendations

August 21, 2007 -- WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) today urged the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)’s congestion taskforce to immediately address flight delays in the New Jersey/New York area and provided some of his recommendations in a letter. The Senator welcomes the formation of the taskforce especially when in June 2007 only 54% of the flights arriving at the Newark Liberty International Airport were on time.    » read more »

Sandia Hosts U.S. Coast Guard Aircraft Inspectors For Training In Inspection Technology

August 20, 2007 -- ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —Dozens of aircraft inspectors from the U.S. Coast Guard are in Albuquerque this week for a unique weeklong training course hosted by Sandia National Laboratories. Airliner Burns at Okinawa Airport; Passengers, Crew Escape

20 August 2007 -- An airliner flown by Taiwan's China Airlines burst into flames Monday after landing on the southern Japanese island of Okinawa.

Airport officials say everyone aboard the jet - 157 passengers and crew of eight - escaped safely. Officials say at least one person was injured.

Billows of black smoke and sheets of orange flames erupted from the fuselage of the China Airlines jet, which had just flown from Taipei to the Japanese airport.

TV pictures showed fire crews spraying the burning aircraft with foam. The blaze has been brought under control.    » read more »

Senator Menendez: Lautenberg & Menendez Announce Federal Airport Grants For New Jersey

Senators announce more than $580,000 for Central Jersey Regional; $50,000 for Woodbine Municipal Airport

August 14, 2007 --WASHINGTON, DC – Sens. Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) and Robert Menendez (D-NJ) today announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will award Central Jersey Regional Airport in Manville more than $580,000 in federal funds to continue its expansion plans. New York Governor Spitzer Signs Airline Passenger Bill Of Rights

August 2, 2007 -- New York Governor Eliot Spitzer today announced that he has signed legislation that will ensure airline passengers on severely delayed flights operating out of New York airports are provided with basic customer protections. This legislation was proposed in response to several incidents of severe airline delays due to inclement weather at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, where passengers waited for hours with no food or water, overflowing toilets and a lack of ventilation.    » read more »

Brazil Plane Crash Kills at Least 200

17 July 2007 -- Brazilian authorities say at least 200 people are dead after a passenger plane skidded off a rain-slicked runway on landing in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The Airbus A320 jet belonging to Brazil's TAM airline slid into a building and gas station belonging to the carrier and exploded into flames. The plane was carrying 176 passengers and crew. Many people on the ground were also killed.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has declared three days of national mourning for the victims of the crash.    » read more »

DOT Seeks Comments on Airline Bumping Rule
