While the annual report from the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids clearly finds that more money was spent by states on tobacco prevention and cessation programs this year, only three states – Maine, Delaware and Colorado – are fully funding these programs at CDC-recommended minimum levels. » read more »

Program prevents problem gamblers from collecting large lottery prizes, receiving lottery mailings
October 16, 2007 -- SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Lottery today launched their Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program that allows people who have determined they have a problem with gambling to stop themselves from playing the lottery by halting their prize claiming abilities. The Self-Exclusion Program aims to reduce the temptations for problem gamblers by preventing self-excluders from collecting prizes at the lottery's prize payment centers or through the lottery’s central office. » read more »

Montana Governor Schweitzer Helps Kick Off Addiction Recovery Month
August 27, 2007 -- A kick-off event for National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month is slated for Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007 at 10 a.m. in the Montana Capitol Rotunda.
The focus of the event will be the historic $4 million Legislative funding measure spearheaded by Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer to expand the state’s ability to offer drug and alcohol addiction treatment for low-income citizens.
The event is sponsored in part by the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS). September is national addiction recovery month. » read more »
