October 31, 2007 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Staff Sgt. James D. Bullard, 28, of Marion, South Carolina, died Oct. 30 in Spearwan Ghar, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using RPG rounds, machine gun fire, mortars and small arms fire during combat operations.
He was assigned to the South Carolina National Guard's 1st Battalion, 263rd Armor Battalion, in Marion, S.C.

October 25, 2007 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Sgt. Edward O. Philpot, 38, of Latta, South Carolina, died Oct 23 in Afghanistan, from a non-combat related Humvee rollover accident.
He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 263rd Armor Regiment, South Carolina National Guard, Dillon, S.C.
This incident is under investigation.
