Culvert Replacements to Improve Drainage on Highways
June 22, 2009 -- New York Governor David A. Paterson today announced the ground breaking of the first transportation infrastructure project in the North Country funded through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Construction began on the $3.1 million project to rehabilitate four culverts on State Routes 72, 184 and 342 in Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties.
The Governor recently certified the project for economic recovery funding, along with 19 others for the North Country region. The area is expected to receive $34 million in ARRA funding for highway and bridge projects. » read more »

Includes Maintenance for 54 Culverts in Steuben County
June 22, 2009 -- New York Governor David A. Paterson today announced the ground breaking of the first transportation infrastructure project in the Southern Tier funded through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Construction began on the $807,000 project to rehabilitate 54 State-owned culverts on State Route 54A in the Towns of Urbana and Pulteney in Steuben County.
The Governor recently certified the project for economic recovery funding, along with 17 other projects that total $92.7 million in transportation infrastructure funds for the Southern Tier, including $32.5 million in ARRA funding. The area is expected to receive $33.3 million in ARRA funds for highway and bridge projects. » read more »

June 22, 2009 -- New York Governor David A. Paterson announced that the ground breaking of the first transportation infrastructure projects in the Rochester area funded through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) began this week. Construction started on four projects totaling $4.5 million, including the resurfacing State Route 77 in Genesee County; drainage improvements on State Route 39 in Wyoming County; resurfacing State Route 36 in Livingston County; and crack sealing on selected State highways in Genesee and Monroe counties. » read more »

Paving Project to Improve Safety on Route 78 in Erie County
June 22, 2009 -- New York Governor David A. Paterson announced the start of construction on a $648,000 project to repave 1.5 miles of State Route 78, Transit Road in the Village of Depew and towns of Cheektowaga and Lancaster in Erie County. This is the first transportation infrastructure project funded through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to get underway in Western New York.
The Governor recently certified the project for economic recovery funds, along with 45 other projects for a total of $58 million in ARRA funding for Western New York’s transportation infrastructure. June 18, 2009 -- New York Governor David A. Paterson today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded New York State more than $283 million in federal homeland security funding, including more than $145 million for the New York City area.
This allotment totals $36,133,877 more than the 2008 funds distributed to New York, a 14.6 percent increase from 2008 funding levels. Ahmed Ghailani Transferred from Guantanamo Bay to New York for Prosecution on Terror Charges
June 9, 2009 -- Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, a Tanzanian national who had been held at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility since September 2006, arrived early this morning in the Southern District of New York to face criminal charges stemming from his alleged role in the Aug. 7, 1998 bombing of the U.S. Embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Nairobi, Kenya.
After a thorough review of his case by the interagency Guantanamo Review Task Force, Ghailani was recently referred for criminal prosecution in the Southern District of New York pursuant to a March 12, 2001 superseding indictment against him. » read more »
