Deadline Approaching For Grants To Help Link Seniors And Low-Income Missourians With Free Or Low-Cost Drugs
March 11, 2008 -- Jefferson City, Mo. — Organizations wanting to link Missouri seniors and low-income residents with programs that offer free or low-cost prescription drugs have until March 21 to apply for technology grants from the office of Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon. Last month, Nixon announced that his office would make available $630,000 to help coordinate the prescription drug needs of hundreds of thousands of Missourians with nearly 200 free and reduced-cost drug programs offered by manufacturers. Almost $7 Million Obligated for December Ice Storm in Missouri
March 10, 2008, JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- To date, $6,941,209 in public assistance funding has been obligated to the State of Missouri to reimburse local governments and certain private nonprofits for their expenses related to the December 6-15, 2007 ice storm, federal officials announced today.
This amount represents almost 20 percent of the total estimated damage of more than $34.8 million to Missouri public facilities from the December storm. The funds are made available from the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). » read more »
Missouri AG Nixon Says Company That Billed For Internet Ads Through “Activation” Checks Will Stop Practice, Pay Restitution
March 3, 2008 -- Jefferson City, Mo. — Missouri businesses, schools, churches and non-profit organizations that were billed by a Florida company for Internet advertising they didn’t know they were purchasing will receive more than $10,458 in restitution under a 26-state settlement, according to Attorney General Jay Nixon. February 25, 2008 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Lance Cpl. Drew W. Weaver, 20, of St. Charles, Missouri, died Feb. 21 while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq.
He was assigned to 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.
