February 2, 2005 -- An investigation conducted by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics in conjunction with the Yazoo City Police Department, Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department and Mississippi Bureau of Investigation culminated today with the arrest of 18 people. “The investigation targeted low to mid level traffickers of marijuana and cocaine in and around our city. MDEQ Landfill Methane Outreach Program Receives EPA Award

Jackson, MS – January 14, 2005 -The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality’s (MDEQ’s) Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP) has been named the 2004 LMOP State Partner of The Year by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). In announcing the award , Brian Guzzone, Team Leader for the EPA LMOP cited that “MDEQ has consistently demonstrated support for beneficial use of landfill gas in the state, and continues to be a catalyst for a number of planned landfill gas energy projects.” MDEQ State LMOP Coordinator, Pradip Bhowal, a resident of Clinton, accepted the award on January 10, during the 2004 LMOP Partner and Project Awards Ceremony held during the 8th Annual LMOP Conference & Project Expo in Baltimore, MD.    » read more »

Hood stated that due to the rules of court restricting a prosecutor’s pretrial comment, the question and answer meeting would be his only public comment on the case.
