Tornadoes Across US South Kill at Least 11
06 February 2008 -- U.S. law enforcement officials say at least 11 people have been killed and dozens injured as tornadoes and thunderstorms tore through parts of the U.S. south.
The U.S. National Weather Service reports severe weather swept across the lower Mississippi Valley, Southern Plains and Midwest Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Reports of tornadoes, wind damage and hail came from Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Texas, and Missouri. » read more »

January 23, 2008 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Sgt. Michael R. Sturdivant, 20, of Conway, Arkansas, died Jan. 22 in Kirkuk, Iraq, of injuries sustained in a vehicle accident during convoy operations.
He was assigned to the 431st Civil Affairs Battalion, U.S. Army Civil Affairs & Psychological Operations Command (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C.

Mike Huckabee’s Son Treated, Released after Traffic Accident
January 04, 2008, LITTLE ROCK, AR -- John Mark Huckabee, the oldest son of Presidential candidate and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, was treated and released from a Des Moines hospital Friday following a traffic accident.
The Governor and former First Lady Janet Huckabee are campaigning in New Hampshire. They spoke with their son by phone while he was in the hospital.
"Janet and I are relieved that John Mark is alright. He will be stiff and sore from the accident, but doctors assured us he sustained no serious injuries," Mike Huckabee said. » read more »

Spc. Matthew K. Reece, 24, of Harrison, Arkansas, died Dec. 1, in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.
He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.
