29 January 2008 -- I'm Kathleen Sebelius, Governor of the State of Kansas.

And I am grateful for the opportunity to speak with you tonight.

I'm a Democrat, but tonight, it really doesn't matter whether you think of yourself as a Democrat…or a Republican…or an Independent. Or…none-of-the-above.

Instead, the fact you're tuning in this evening tells me each of you is, above all…

…an American, first.

You are mothers, and fathers. Grandparents, and grandchildren. Working people, and business-owners. Americans, all.    » read more »

Reaction to President Bush's State of the Union Address Follows Partisan Lines

29 January 2008 -- Reaction to President Bush's State of the Union address is predictably along partisan lines. Members of his Republican Party praised his leadership and the goals he proposed on domestic and foreign issues, while majority Democrats criticized him on the same issues.

Bush Calls for Passage of Colombia, Panama Free Trade Agreements

29 January 2008 -- President Bush has thanked the U.S. Congress for approving a free trade deal with Peru and is urging lawmakers to pass similar agreements with Colombia and Panama.

In his final State of the Union address Monday, President Bush highlighted Colombia in particular. He said failure to pass the deal with the Andean nation would "embolden the purveyors of false populism" in the Western Hemisphere.    » read more »
