4 November, 2011 -- Delaware State SealDOVER – Protecting the State’s key assets and infrastructure along Delaware’s waterways just got easier with the unveiling of the new and first-ever Delaware State Police (DSP) Maritime Unit and two new vessels that will be used for homeland security patrols and surveillance. The vessels, DSP Marine One, and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s Marine Patrol Oscar (MP Oscar), will proactively patrol Delaware’s 100-miles of waterways.

Energy Secretary Chu Highlights Recovery Act Cleanup Progress

Over $1.5 billion spent creates or saves over 14,400 jobs nationally; commitment to small businesses ensures greatest economic impact

March 23, 2010 -- OAK RIDGE, TENN. – Energy Secretary Steven Chu announced today that the Department’s Environmental Management program has spent more than $1.5 billion in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds on cleanup projects around the country – 25 percent of the program’s total - creating an estimated 14,400 jobs since the start of the Recovery Act.

March 23, 2010 -- U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan today announced that an additional $197,678,694 is now available for Indiana under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. To date, Indiana has received $1,701,723,978 through the Recovery Act.

The state recently reported that recovery dollars have been used to provide funding for more than 12,000 education jobs from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, 2009, while also supporting programs that drive education reform.

North Carolina to Receive $383 Million in Additional ARRA Funds for Education

March 23, 2010 -- U. S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan today announced that an additional $383,437,416 is now available for North Carolina under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. To date, North Carolina has received $2,277,411,205 through the Recovery Act.

The state recently reported that recovery dollars have been used to provide funding for more than 19,000 education jobs from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, 2009, while also supporting programs that drive education reform.

March 23, 2010 -- U. S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan today announced that an additional $274,516,879 is now available for Arizona under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009.

To date, Arizona has received $2,025,348,925 through the Recovery Act. The state recently reported that recovery dollars have been used to provide funding for more than 2,800 education jobs from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, 2009, while also supporting programs that drive education reform.

March 23, 2010 -- U. S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan today announced that an additional $416,063,701 is now available for Georgia under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009.

To date, Georgia has received $2,544,529,775 through the Recovery Act. The state recently reported that recovery dollars have been used to provide funding for more than 14,300 education jobs from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, 2009, while also supporting programs that drive education reform.

10,000 Recovery Act Transportation Projects Now Under Way

As Spring Construction Season Begins, Active Transportation Projects Totaling $29.8 Billion are Creating Jobs Across the Country

March 18, 2010 -- DURHAM, NC – Vice President Joe Biden today announced that 10,000 transportation projects are now under way in all 50 states and the District of Columbia thanks to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

Projects are considered under way when a contractor has been hired, the project has received official notice to proceed, and work has begun. This milestone comes just over a year after the Recovery Act was signed into law and as the spring construction season is getting into full swing.

DOE Report on Benefits of Recovery Act for Small Businesses in Clean Energy, Environmental Management Sectors

March 17, 2010 -- WASHINGTON – The Department of Energy today released a new report highlighting the benefits of the Recovery Act to small businesses throughout the clean, renewable energy industry and environmental management sector.

The report found that as of early March 2010, small businesses have been selected to receive nearly $5.4 billion in funding across a number of Recovery Act and related programs, including loans, loan guarantees, grants, contracts and tax incentives, in partnership with the Department of Treasury.

Sen. Carper Calls For Investment In Transportation Infrastructure

WASHINGTON (March 11, 2010) – Today Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.), a senior member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, participated in a full Environment and Public Works Committee hearing on the challenges facing our transportation system. The hearing, “Federal, State and Local Partnerships to Accelerate Transportation Benefits,” examined federal, state and local partnerships that leverage federal transportation investments and explored the ways in which the benefits of those investments could be accelerated.

DOE: $154 Million for NRG Energy's Carbon Capture and Storage Project in Texas

Funding will help demonstrate advances in clean coal efforts

March 9, 2010 -- Washington — U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu announced today that a project with NRG Energy has been selected to receive up to $154 million, including funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Located in Thompsons, TX, the post-combustion capture and sequestration project will demonstrate advanced technology to reduce emissions of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide. It will also assist with enhanced oil recovery efforts from a nearby oil field.

“Advancing our carbon capture and storage technology will create new jobs in America and reduce our carbon pollution output,” said Secretary Chu. “It’s another example of our country’s innovation at work.”
